WW II

Wednesday,
" September 13, 2023 "

( Originally created in November, 2015 )

Sinking on September 24, 1942 the
" S.S. Losmar "
lost " 27 " of their crewmen !

( " 25 " Merchant Mariners and " 2 " Navy Armed Guards )

On September 24, 1942 the unescorted " S.S. Losmar " was torpedoed by " Japanese submarine I-165 " about 250 miles west of Cape Comorin, India and sank.   " 25 " of the Merchant Mariners and " 2 " Navy Armed Guards were lost.

It was noted by some sources that " 14 " survivors were rescued by the British ship Louise Moller on October 5, 1942 and another " 7 " survivors reached the West coast of Ceylon on October 17, 1942.   Those sources, however, have not been verified and I've been unable to determine the actual size of the crew.

The following below list was created in the memory of those who
" Gave Their All " on the " S.S. Losmar " !

There are personal " Online Memorials " for each of these honored men that were created for them by using the " Find A Grave Website ".   On the " Majority " of the online memorials you will see a small biography for each soldier which may include:

Parent's, Grandparent's & Sibling's Names,
where & when they were born,
where they grew up,
when & where they enlisted in the service,
the military unit they were part of,
" AND "
where and how they actually died during the war !
