" 1 to 1 1/2 lbs. " for 2 or 3 folks
" 2 to 2 1/2 lbs. " for 4 or more folks

I never even heard of " Cube Steaks " until my wife came into my life.   Apparently my Mom never bought them ..... But my wife likes them ( even though I think they are a little to tough for a sandwich ) so I came up with this recipe and when cooked in a slow cooker " they basically just melt in your mouth. "   So if you like the flavor of " Cube Steaks " but agree with me that they are kind of tough .... try them this way !

Ingredients:

  •   2 - cans of condensed cream of Mushroom soup with garlic - ( #1 )

  •   1 - can of water from one can of the above soup

  •   1 - envelope of Lipton dry " Beefy Onion Soup Mix " or " Plain Onion Soup Mix "

  •   2 - stalks of celery - ( sliced )

  •   1 - 4 oz. can of Mushroom Pieces and stems - ( optional )

  •   Salt & Pepper - ( to taste )

  •   1 - lb., or even 2 lbs., of Cube Steaks

  •   Pasta, Rice or potatoes of choice - ( Rice or Mashed Potatoes recommended )

Directions:

  1.   Add the first " six ingredients " to your slow cooker and stir to combine.

  2.   Cut cube steaks in half or quarters and add to slow cooker and stir to cover all pieces.

  3.   Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.

  4.   Serve over your choice of Pasta, Rice, or potatoes.

  5.   Enjoy !

If you don't like mushrooms or just want a different taste try these variations:

      •   Try using " Cream of Potato " - OR - " Cream of Celery " soup ! - ( either one is also very good )

      •   Instead of using 2 cans of any soup already mentioned above try using " 1 can of the above mentioned soups " and then add 1 can of " Campbell's Cheddar Cheese Soup " to create more of a " Cheese Steak Taste ! "
