The Third Chapter of James opens with him giving a warning to those that would be Evangelists, Prophets, Pastors/Preachers and/or Teachers of the word ! The actual greek word for word interpretation ( shown above ) makes a lot more sense than the King James does here. Seeing the term " masters " today gives us the feeling of a boss or someone incharge.
But remember that Evangelists, Prophets, Pastors/Preachers and/or Teachers of the word are indeed masters ( that is in charge ) of those that they are preaching to and/or teaching. James is actually here warning against becoming one of the above and notes:
" greater judgement we shall receive "
Those that seek out and decide to become an " Evangelist, Prophet, Pastor/Preacher and/or Bible Teacher " must heed these words very carefully ..... To take on such a position " for God " requires someone that is doing " everything within their power " to not only " strickly follow the word of God " but also insure that they are leading a Christian life " that God would approve of " ..... because as noted above " you shall receive a greater judgement than others ".
The greek word [ didaskaloi ] used here is a " masculine noun " that actually means " a male teacher, an instructor acknowledged for their mastery in their field of learning; in Scripture, a Bible teacher, competent in theology ".
Now some might question why it's noted as a " masculine noun " ? The immediate thought is " Does that mean women cannot be preachers and/or Teachers ? " Let's look in God's word for the answer:
1 Corinthians 14:34-35
[ 34 ] Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. [ 35 ] And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
Note that the term " the law " shown above comes from Genesis:
Genesis 3:16
[ 16 ] Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
As an " ordained Bible Teacher " I must always be true to the scriptures whether or not people agree .....
Now I realize today that there are many denominations that actually allow women to be the head ( pastor ) of a church ..... however based on the verses in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 above ..... " Our Heavenly Father does not allow this ". Whether we like it or not, whether we think of it in today's world its sexist or not, women are never to be the head, and or Pastor/Preacher, of a church and to do so " is to go against scripture and our Heavenly Father ". To quote an old saying:
As a caution remember what is noted by our Lord Jesus in the Book of Matthew:
Matthew 7:21-23
[ 21 ] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, [ faith only ] shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven [ obedience ]. [ 22 ] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name ? and in thy name have cast out devils ? and in thy name done many wonderful works ? [ 23 ] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
